Construction Company spain
There are a few large Spanish contractors that occupy a privileged position in the country's business structure as enterprises of great economic power and competitive ability, both within the domestic market and internationally. These are companies with a significant operational presence in the world's main economies and, as such, they have adapted perfectly to the challenges of globalization.
The development of the large contractors has been based on demand for civil works by the State and demand for new non-residential buildings by private individuals and companies. These have been the motors that have driven their expansion throughout the 20th century and, in particular, in the second half of the century, when the demand for construction has been more intense and domestic markets more dynamic.
In these years of expansion, the large contractors have accumulated an unquestionable amount of knowledge and experience from abroad. This has allowed them to improve their resources and capabilities and, therefore, their competitiveness in the domestic market. In addition, the internationalization that they initiated in these years facilitated their entrance into foreign markets in a context of greater competition.

It was in these years that the first cycle of internationalization of the large Spanish construction firms began. This was triggered by the increase in the number of foreign bids that were submitted for projects awarded through official tenders. The price factor was still the decisive criterion, but a greater degree of competition existed with the arrival of foreign companies and the lifting of some of the restrictions that had been placed on these firms.
As a result, the large construction companies began to set up subsidiaries abroad in order to participate in these bidding opportunities. Initially, these were created in the countries of Latin America and North Africa, regions where there was a high level of construction activity on the part of the Spanish builders. These operations would later expand to other countries around the world, especially in Europe (Seopan, op. cit.).

The creation of these overseas subsidiaries was accompanied by the setting up of other services that would allow them to compete in tenders for major construction work in a broader range of sectors and markets. These activities were coordinated by the Aeci, an organization that was formally established in 1957 and that had several goals. These included supporting the interests of construction export companies, performing studies and analyses of the countries most attractive to these companies, centralizing their contacts and working to uphold the reputation of this sector.
ACS, also known as Actividades de Construccion y Servicios SA, is one of the largest Construction Companies in Spain. Its diversified activities include construction, infrastructure and water management, with a strong presence in the energy and transportation sectors. It is an international operator with operations in more than 30 countries. Its key projects include airports, railway systems and roads, power plants, water and energy distribution networks, hospitals and social and commercial facilities.
